Pair-a-Dimes Blog

I started my

‘Pair-a-Dimes for Your Thoughts’

blog in March of 2006 on a site called elgg, which changed to Eduspaces.

When it was going to be moved again, I decided to host it myself and started this website, placing the blog here:

Before sharing more about Pair-a-Dimes, I invite you to check out my daily blog

This is where I am currently blogging… short, daily musings that take 1-2 minutes to read.

Why ‘Pair-a-Dimes for Your Thoughts’?

Aside from the obvious (and somewhat cheesy) play on ‘paradigms for your thoughts’, why on earth do I have this as a title for my blog years later? The reality was that this was literally something I came up with one night, after midnight, as I built my new blog. When I moved to DavidTruss.com, I was going to drop the title and just have it be a blog with my name. Simple. But days before I made the switch, Alan November came to present in our district and he was chatting about all the amazing things Google does. I had just written about Google History (new at the time) and on a break, I asked Alan if he had seen it. He said ‘no’ and asked me to show him.

Since I had my blog open on another page, I went to if for the link and Alan noticed ‘Pair-a-Dimes’ at the top of the page… As I scrolled down, he stopped me, “Pair-a-Dimes? You’re that guy?” I replied and he then said that he had read my blog. He asked me to present to the group on Google History after the break, and then after the session he invited me to present at his conference that July. So that is the history of the title. It was going to be dropped but after it got me a free trip to Boston to present at Alan November’s conference, I couldn’t drop it. And so now when you see ‘Pair-a-Dimes’… I’m that guy!
